Cassowary Walkthrough Now Open

Be Immersed in the Daintree Rainforest at WILD LIFE Sydney Zoo with our new Cassowary Walkthrough!

This new walkthrough allows guests to step inside our Southern cassowary, Princess' habitat and experience everything the Daintree Rainforest has to offer.

To make this opening extra special, we were lucky enough to have Uncle Tim welcome in this exhibit. Uncle Tim performed the 'Bundara dance' which is the traditional Aboriginal dance that imitates the cassowary, used the clapping sticks to lure Princess towards his new exhibit, and told the dreamtime story of how the cassowary came to be. In this story, the cassowary came into existence by falling and landing on a rock which then got stuck to the cassowary's head thus providing the cassowary's famous casque.
